Irish rail has apologised after an issue with carriages meant that people had to stand in the aisles on a train to Sligo.

^It was scheduled to be a seven-carriage train,^ said the spokesperson, adding that the train had recently gone from a six to a seven carriage vehicle.
^There was a carriage availability issue on Friday, which meant it departed with four.^
^We assure it will not happen again,^ said the spokesperson.
Commuters who booked a seat on the 5.05pm train on Friday using the Irish Rail online system, and who did not get their seat on this train, are entitled to a refund.
