Do you know this man? CCTV released in fake cash investigation

British Transport Police (BTP (British Transport Police)) is appealing for help from the public after fake cash was used at a food outlet at Cardiff Central rail station.

Officers have also released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which happened on Monday, 21 October.

Investigating officer PC Dave Brown said: ^A man entered the Upper Crust cafe around 6.30pm and used a fake ten pound note to pay for his goods. A short time later, the same person entered the Spar store on the concourse and tried to buy two bottles of alcohol, again with a fake note. He was challenged by the sales assistant, who questioned the validity of the money, and subsequently ran out of the shop, leaving behind the ten pound note.

^Enquiries have been ongoing to trace the man and I am now in a position to release a CCTV image of a person we would like to speak to in connection with the incident. We are particularly keen to trace this man as we believe he will have information which can assist the investigation. Anyone who knows the identity of the man or his current whereabouts is asked to contact BTP.^

Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference B5/WCA (Wiltshire Climate Alliance) of 15/11/2013. Alternatively, information can be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Notes to Editors:

If you do publish/broadcast this appeal, please ensure that you include the above incident reference number.

You are also reminded of your obligations under the Contempt of Court Act 1981. Under no circumstances will BTP accept liability if the images are distributed, reproduced or published in any form of media, electronic or otherwise, other than for the above purpose.
