I know this has nothing to to with rail transport but thought some here may be interested in this movement of a transformer from Didcot power station to avonmouth. I suspect this may be quite a sight (providing your not stuck behind it trying to get somewhere quickly)

More information here http://www.wiltshire.police.uk/index.php/home/the-news/5425

There will two other transformers moving in the coming weeks.

Interstingly the second one will leave Didcot on a Friday at 6pm because of a planned closure of the A34 that weekend.  Makes a change from rail closures....  Grin

I thought transformers could change into vehicles and move themselves.  Or perhaps I have been doing too much looking after young children recently  Roll Eyes

It certainly was!  I passed it while driving on the A34 northbound some way south of the junction for East Ilsley.  Traffic was backed up behind it as far as I could see - I left the A34 at the Chilton interchange. Must have caused chaos.

There are two more to come out of Didcot later this month - well worth avoiding!
