Various difficulties in the Totnes area this evening with trains unable to get over the banks.
Seems one train is unable to get up Hemerden bank and another in difficulties on Dainton.

The 1657 from Plymouth seems to have had problems. This train has been delayed from Plymouth by 55 minutes, has been further delayed at Ivybridge and is now 80 minutes late.
This train will no longer call at Totnes.
This is due to poor rail conditions. If the rails are anything like the roads with leaf mush I can fully understand this. |

The 16:57 got stuck on Hemerdon and went back to Plymouth and was swapped with a "healthier" set which had come down as the 14:06 to Penzance.
Meanwhile an earlier XC▸ service from Plymouth to Leeds floundered at Dainton Tunnel and eventually off loaded its passengers at Totnes and was cancelled. Not sure where the empty train went after that.

That's barely a 200 mile range at average fuel consumption. Indeed, admittedly you'll only find them in situations where they are appropriate i.e. online grocery deliveries, where most supermarkets have an outlet for refuelling. |

Doesn't surprise me seeing that Asda van article if their driving standards down here are anything to go by! Asda vans seem to demonstrate consistently bad driving standards down here.

There was a XC▸ HST▸ sat on the through-road at Bristol TM▸ all of yesterday and a fgw driver told me that this was the train causing trouble at Dainton bank, as a fault on the rear powercar caused it to be effectively on one engine.
