- Can I buy one of these tickets from a non FGW▸ (First Great Western) station?
- If so is there a particular code to give?
- Should I be able to get it on a self service machine?

Definitely not from a TVM▸ (Ticket Vending Machine), just like any rover.

Think it has to be got from a FGW▸ (First Great Western)-served station at least, but please tell me I'm wrong!

Thames Rover is available at a number of stations served only by SWT▸ (South West Trains), eg between Reading and Wokingham.  They should be familiar with it at any station on it's validity map, such as at Banbury (Chiltern).

(BTW▸ (by the way), according to the NR» (Network Rail - home page) rovers and rangers pages, the tickets in the relevant area are known as Thames Rover (3 day or 7 day), and the Thames Branches Day Ranger - the latter would clearly be an 'FGW▸ (First Great Western) only' product.)

Some rovers can also be bought on line from the FGW▸ (First Great Western) Website but can only be posted to you rather than collected from a TVM▸ (Ticket Vending Machine).  There's a fairly long lead time.  I think you need to order them at least a week in advance.

If I go to my local SWT▸ (South West Trains) station and try asking for the 1 day Thames Rover ticket, is there a ticket machine code I can give the staff that will speed up the process?

Can on train staff issue this ticket? I understand that the self service ticket machines are different again to those used by the staff on train?

According to info on the rovers/rangers section on BRFares.com, the code(s) for ranger tickets in the Thames Valley are:

I066 - Thames Branches Day Ranger
I784 - Kennet Day Ranger
I080 - Cherwell Reading Day Ranger [Banbury-Reading]
I078 - Cherwell Didcot Day Ranger [Banbury-Didcot]
I079 - Cherwell Oxford Day Ranger [Banbury-Oxford]
I432 - Oxfordshire Day Ranger
