From the Daily Express:

FELIX the cat thought her days as official ^station mouse catcher were over when automatic ticket barriers were installed.


The stray was adopted two years ago by staff at Huddersfield station in West Yorkshire.

But she found she could not get through the new high-security barriers, designed to combat fare dodgers. She was distraught when the barriers came into use this month. So train operator First TransPennine Express installed a special cat flap. A company spokesman said: ^After spotting Felix having kittens about alterations to her platform catwalk, we hope the bespoke cat flap which sits within the gate^s barriers will make her life easier.^


Felix has become a much-loved member of the railway team and is popular with commuters. Station manager Paul Jackson said: ^Felix is certainly the cat that got the cream with her very own VIP entrance and exit. Customers and staff hold her in great affection and she^s very much part of daily life here at the station.^

There are seven new automatic barriers at Huddersfield preventing passengers getting on to the concourse without tickets.

Wow they must be some barriers if a cat can't get over them. Our local cats have no problems with 6' fences!
