It strikes me ... I travel to very many more places on business than most people. All of these taken on business trips - though often in the evening when I've had a chance to look around. Oh yeah ... ... should mean that everyone gets at least one out of 10 ... I think some are a bit harder .. and there's one in particular that's probably a lot harder!

I would like to guess at a few of them, but am a bit baffled by the rules. If entrant 1 scores 9, then if entrant 2 knows for certain the one entrant 1 got wrong, even if he did not know the others, he just has to repeat the 9 correct answers plus the amended one. Have I got hold of the wrong end of the stick?

It's a team "game" (and a bit of an experiment) ... so say where you think all ten are, and I'll tell you how many are right, but not which. Then other can pick up from there.
So you may say: 1 Melksham 2 Shadwell 3 Pilning 4 Kyle of Lochalsh 5 Swindon 6 Peterborough 7 Norwich 8 Ludgershall 9 Rugby 10 Avonmouth
And I could say that you have 5 out of the 10 right. Others then have to work out which they think are the right five and have a go with a modified list.
By the way - I have not got five right in the list above - it's just an example.

OK - so in the spirit of the game I will try not to give away which ones I know for certain, and which ones are wild stabs in the dark :
1. Slough - I think I can make out Windsor listed on the departure board 2. Canary Wharf - the skyscrapers in the background look familiar 3. Paddington - The Grand Union goes right past it 4. Bradford on Avon - probably. If it is a fake, e.g. a film set, they have found some nice GWR▸ benches 5. King's Cross - platform zero sounds like a ghost story, but I think that this station actually has one. 6. Stevenage - I recognise that glass and brick monstrosity in the background 7. The Hague - with its unique yellow buffer stops 8. The disused swing bridge over the Sheepwash Channel at the north end of Oxford station. I only ever once saw the bridge closed. 9. Coventry - I remember visiting there as part of my manhole-cover research project 10. Wolverhampton - the old GWR station.

Kings Cross (only other station I can think of with platform 0 is Cardiff Central, and that's not NetworkRail operated) 6. Pass 7. Somewhere in Belgium or Holand 8. Pass 9. Pass 10. Liverpool (historic docks area) I was rather supprised to find GWR▸ stuff in Liverpool, did they actually operate trains to/from there?

That makes it rather interesting to mark ... and in doing so you now have seven out of 10 of the towns / cities / villages / stations identified correctly.
