Anyone else online old enough to remember bus conductors?
I can remember 'clippies' on the buses in Taunton when I was a child. Late 70s, early 80s. One in particular used to give me sweets when I was on the 271 from Wellsprings with my Grandma. Grandma would oft tell the story of when she was flattered by a clippie who thought I was her son, rather than grandson. That is until a 6 year old bignosemac piped up, saying, quite indignantly, "That's not my Mummy, that's my Grandma."

Often heard at the end of presented TV programmes:
"See you at the same time tomorrow", or "Don't forget to tune in at the same time next week".
If you do either of those then the programme will be over.

"See you at the same time tomorrow"
Even better when they say it at the end of a radio programme.

My Oldhamer grandma, when asked my age by a conductor, said "He'll be five in September", so avoiding a fare. After he had gone, I pointed out that I was five in March, this being about June. "But you'll be five in September", said my sainted Grandma, who could never tell a lie.

Not sure whether this is pedantry, or more worthy of a general rant about the oft lack of information provided for bus services. Many bus stops near my home have recently been jazzed up and now include 'live running' information displays. Very welcome that is, but sometimes the transponders fail, or the location can't cope with an infrequent service, so one has to fall back on the information provided by timetable posters.... This is what was available to me at a bus stop in Shirehampton this evening: Okay. Lets look at the timetables:

Predict what? The future, football results, the result of the next general election or perhaps whether we will see a white Christmas.
Predicting when the next bus is going to turn up might be a good start.

How can you gain assistance from a member of staff ... ?
You could have a hissy fit about the number of 's's in "assisstance", for a sstart.

William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.
"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner." Discuss.

This one is courtesy of Stansted Airport and Ryanair. Boarding pass says gate closes at 08:40. Board in departure lounge says "gate open 08:30. All gates 12 minutes from here." Takes even longer than 12 mins if you miss the transit.

In the film Escape Plan released earlier this year, there is a scene where in the control room of the "Super Prison" there is a guard sat in front of some computer screens and built into "Holding Mount" of the screns are some Dell PowerEdge 2950 Front Covers... If you were to look at the whole desk thing and knew how deep those PowerEdge 2950's were (I have 2 of them!) then you'd know it wasn't possible to have them installed in the way they were... For an IT Manager, This really, really annoyed me... Movie Mistake! Wonder how many other IT Techies who say the film spotted it?! Oh, did anyone see the Class 395 in Fast and Furious 6? I did despite it being less than obvious </get coat=on>
