Quick Question - Identify the commute

Is the signage at Paddington still directing H&C line passengers to Platform 12?  When I was there at the end of November (also heading to Wood Lane), I followed my usual route which was confirmed by signs (presumably not removed).  Ended up touching in at one gateline from the concourse, climbing stairs, then touching out on the bridge, walking round to the new entrance then touching in again there.  Seemed like a lot of hassle when I could've just used the escalator.

If you are on the main concourse I don't think any of the signs are supposed to be leading you all the way through onto platform 12, but only round in that general direction - before you get to the platform 12 gateline you should head up to the taxi level by stairs, escalators or lifts? 

Although I was looking at this a good few months ago, and therefore it's just from memory, I definitely recall all the overhead signage had been changed appropriately, as had the coloured lines painted on the floor.

Also found this on flickr that suggests the route towards the H&C is not meant to be via P12 anyway:

Whenever I've gone onto the Underground from Paddington. I go up the stairs onto the Footbridge. (Around the Coach D area) and there is a small Gateline on the footbridge (Can get heavily congested all the way along this footbridge in the Peak)

Anyway long story short, This will (I think this is what paul7755 is suggesting) take you across an Old GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) Canopy Footbridge into a newly renovated area and as long as you keep bearing left you'll walk into the Ticket Hall and Gateline for the H&C Platforms.

I was thinking Brucey had gone round the other way, ie through the new platform 12 gateline, the one shown here:  http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=8302.msg108246#msg108246

...rather than up those stairs in the foreground.  Although at the time those pics were taken the stairs did only lead to the taxis, as the LU new concourse was yet to open.

The other obvious route from the main concourse is down the middle of the station next to the HEx platforms, then up onto the footbridge and then as you mentioned in your post?

I think I owe you an apology Paul7755... I completely misread your post. Having seen the pictures you linked and read you posts again, I realised exactly where you were!

The last part of your previous post is the way I would normally go. You can access the footbridge from Platform 1 as well which is rather useful if you're in the First Class Lounge just near the bottom of the stairs. Also saves on the occasional scrum like conditions near the large gateline onto some of the HSS^▸ (High Speed Services) Platforms.

That is exactly where I ended up.  Having examined the signage again, you will get directed towards the escalators if you follow them from the concourse.  However, once you get past the escalators (which I did just out of habit), the H&C signs now direct you onto the platform, rather than sending you back up the escalator.
