A long-lost Bristol train station that shut 50 years ago could be reopened under ambitious plans for the region's rail over the next decade.

Campaigners including MP^▸ (Member of Parliament) Kerry McCarthy are celebrating after St Anne's Park station in Brislington received up to ?50,000 from the Government to begin the process of restoring it back to life.

The picture of 444 040 is in the November 2018 issue of "Railway Gazette" (I googled it - I don't have a collection). It's obviously not Bristol - someone will recognise the setting.

Okay, I'm ignorant of these things. To me it's obviously not in or near Bristol cos the only SWR^» (South Western Railway - about) services that come here are the Waterloo-Temple Meads and the Portsmouth-Cardiff services, which call at Temple Meads and Bath but it's obviously not either of those places. And even if it were, a GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) service would be far more relevant as they're surely the only ones that will stop at St Anne's Park etc (if anything ever does).

So what I want to know is, how can you tell from the photo that it's running on third rail?

The unit is in passenger service, front light on, CIS^▸ (Customer Information System) showing stops, so not being hauled arround empty by a diesel, and a 444 is 3rd rail only, though does have a space for a pantagragh.

I agree - Portsmouth Harbour.  I was there not too long ago - in Sept, coming back from the Isle of Wight.

From that angle, I don't think there are any discernible differences.
