While you and Finn have been touring the frozen wastes, Virgin have switched to battery power. (8,5 million AAA cells, changed at each stop.)

Perhaps Wabtec have been bolting diesel engines and generators on them (inspired by the success of Hitatchi's IETs (Intercity Express Train - replacement for HSTs (manufactured by Hitachi in Kobe, Japan))?) when they should have been doing the 319/769s?

That Pendolino shot doesn't look like the North Wales Coast Line, but they used to work along there even though there are no wires (answer: they were hauled by class 57s). Is that a real location (with OHLE (Over-Head Line Equipment (electrification via catenary)) painted out) or is it a model with a shot of a train superimposed (going by the still frame shown the train is very good CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery), if that's what it is, compared to what you see when new stations are proposed)?

Don't DOO (Driver-Only Operation (that is, trains which operate without carrying a guard)) it, keep the guard (but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea if the driver unlocked the doors on arrival at calling points).

After fat cats made millions from the Trainline float... Could YOU ride the private equity gravy train?

Trainline was one of the most successful flotations of a private company this year

With an illustration of a steam engine ... I suspect backing onto its train at Bishop's Lydeard.  Does Trainline sell any tickets at all for steam trains?

Today's Sunday Times has the Eurostar/Thalys story with a picture of a set on third rail.

An alternative headline could have been "Useful* service for buying train tickets proves popular"

*I don't. They charge money, for goodness sake!

I suppose this is not completely irrelevant when you read the article, but first impressions..........

I see that 180s have made a return to GWR (Great Western Railway), and on the Henley branch no less. Curiously they're in Grand Central livery...

This is a classic, a Virgin liveried HST (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)) seen at York used to illustrate an article about a potential Virgin California to Las Vegas service.

Nice though the Viva Rail trains may be, I don't think I would fancy 3 hours in an underground train. However ponced up it might be.

I had no idea that Dtrain had been upgraded so massively.  Could Vivarail have a future in upgrading Vauxhall Astras for F1 teams?
