Annoying / amusing use of completely irrelevant stock photos to illustrate press articles

You're the Somerset County Gazette forsake. Based in Taunton. 10 minute walk to the station. Step away from the computer and go use your smartphone to get a location accurate picture. It's not rocket surgery. Or brain science.

But is the article writing (at the weekend?) outsourced to a locum service elsewhere?   Looks like other things in the article were a bit woolly - from comments

"Steps to Taunton train station closed off for safety reasons" with a photo of the station is a bit of a misleading headline as it relates to a council car park that just happens to be near the station and has nothing to do with the station itself.

As far as I know the steps concerned are on railway land. They lead to and from the council run Kilkenny Car Park.

I presume the weather was so bad last night that South East Cornwall is now in South East London.  Strange that I sure I would have noticed it passing by if it had been.  Still top marks to LUL^▸ (London Underground Ltd) for finding a new railway and running trains on it so soon.  Even if they were immediately curtailed by lightning.

Actually quite relevant as it is an artist impression of the proposed bi-mode units for Greater Anglia secondary services which will run the Norwich - Cambridge (- Stanstead) service which may well serve Addenbrooks station

Whilst the photo accompanying this Exeter Express and Echo article is technically not completely irrelevant, I would be very impressed if the pictured rolling stock were to call at Exeter in public service anywhere near this Christmas.............

Another over hyped up 'the end is nigh' on the railways story. It makes no difference, if people have to travel over Christmas/New Year thru have to use what services are provided which, like last year, will still get you to London without having to get on a bus*

*Swansea-Cardiff passengers excepted. Local Welsh press could make a story out of that.

Good to see the planned cascade of rolling stock has reached a much expanded Exmouth station - thanks to the good old Excess and Error

The other photo on that story isn't a lot better in terms of showing today's railway.   Must be all of 15 years old - "fag packet" GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) HST^▸ (High Speed Train (Inter City class 43 125 units)), the TPO^▸ (Travelling Post Office) and a Virgin HST!
