From the Plymouth Herald: Train firm's new rules for passengers with bicycles Folding bikes are not affected by the new rules on GWR▸ trainsCYCLISTS wanting to take their bikes on high-speed trains from Plymouth will have to reserve a space for them in advance from now on. Transport company Great Western Railway (GWR) brings in the rule change on Monday, May 16, 2016, and it effects all rapid services including those between Plymouth and the South West and London Paddington. |

Meanwhile, the Western Daily Press demonstrates a clear understanding of the new rules (with a suitable picture): Cyclists must reserve bike space when travelling with Great Western Railway on high speed trains Cyclists will now have to reserve a space for their bike when travelling with Great Western Railway on all high speed trains. Bikes should be booked in by 6pm the day before, either through the booking line, online, or through the ticket office. All bikes will be stored in carriage A of the train, and strapped in, but there will only be room for half a dozen at a time. Cyclists must also make the train manager aware of their destination, and remind them when they are almost at the stop so they can be helped to leave the train safely, according to Great Western Railway's website. Are passengers in carriage A of these high speed trains also to be strapped in (to stop them from making any noise, possibly) ?   |
