Here's another example, from The Post (Bristol): Delays on all trains through Bristol Temple MeadsAll train routes through Bristol Temple Meads will be delayed by at least 20 minutes due to a signalling problem until further notice. (From 3.30pm) Train operators CrossCountry and First Great Western services are affected by the signalling problem at Stapleton, according to National Rail.  Does anyone else recognise that picture? It's been used before, and it has nothing to do with today's problem affecting Bristol Temple Meads.  |

Classic! Virgin Trains, which operates Lancaster station, is also looking forward to the operational benefits the improvements will bring. Just how long is the WCML▸ franchise extension / are the improvements being moved forward very much more rapidly than the typical rail industry works / is this a scheme that's been on the cards for years? (Serious question, even though asked in our more humerous area!) |

One of my earliest railway memories is on a rail trip with an uncle and aunt from Oldham Mumps (by steam) to Morecambe, via Lancaster. I don't remember a gherkin.

The return of an old favourite - from The Herald (Plymouth): Plymouth train services suspended for engineering worksFirst Great Western and Crosscountry services are suspended through Plymouth this morning for engineering works. Buses are being laid on as services are out between Plymouth & St Budeaux Victoria Rd, Plymouth & Liskeard, Plymouth & St Austell and Plymouth & Penzance.  ... which has prompted some amusing comment from the Herald's own readership. |

I agree it would be more helpful if the Herald gave the full story. Although I have to say I think the FGW▸ website could have made more of it. It does appear in the timetable changes section but a message on the front page would do no harm.
