The News are the latest stock photography culprits. This 450 appears under the wires in a location that also has a third rail. I have no idea where this could be, but it definitely isn't Portsmouth. Trains disrupted by ^trespass^ incidentTrain journeys in and out of Portsmouth have been delayed after what officials are describing as a ^trespass incident^. National Rail says a trespasser is causing disruption near Fratton. Because of this, there are delays of up to 50 minutes to and from Portsmouth. The delays are expected to continue until around 2.30pm. A spokeswoman for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance said: ^Services were disrupted this morning as a result of a trespass incident near Fratton at around 11.10am which caused delays to trains going to and from Portsmouth. ^Services were restored at around 11.45am and are now returning to normal. ^We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.^ Have you been caught in the train delays? Call reporter Sam Bannister on (023) 9262 2137. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/traffic-travel/travel-latest/trains-disrupted-by-trespass-incident-1-5283191

A search of the image url with Google images reveals that the picture is of the first production unit of SWT▸ 's Class 450, 450001, taken at the Wildenrath test track in Germany. So, definitely not Portsmouth! The search also revealed that the image was taken by Colin J. Marsden, a noted writer on motive power and resident of one of the best places in the UK▸ to take rail pictures - Dawlish. Class 180's never did reach Cornwall. It was always an aspiration of us "in control" to try and get one there. Like it has already been mentioned we managed it to Waterloo and I personally managed to send one to Hereford from Bristol empty to take up one of the morning peak trains from Hereford to London (early at Oxford cos of powered doors!) To get one to Penzance you needed a service which the Exeter Traincrew (Plymouth and Penzance didn't sign them) worked down and back with the same set. Typically though they would get off at Penzance for a break and work the next one back so it wasn't possible in the end.

SWT▸ 159 relating to the Scorrier (Redruth) incident
Eastleigh? And it's a 158 on the Romsey - Salisbury service. ...I thought this might be able to double up as one of those quizzes? Paul

Quite looking forward to having the entire FGW▸ 180 fleet reallocated to Devon and Cornwall regional services post electrification......

I used to live within earshot of that too. The problems you get with only one route are predictable and severe. Wasn't Scorrier at one time blessed with a long siding to service my former employer South Crofty?

Wasn't Scorrier at one time blessed with a long siding to service my former employer South Crofty? Not sure about Scorrier. I know Blue Circle had a large cement depot between Scorrier and Chacewater. Edit - http://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/cornwall-railway-gallery---2-main-line-scorrier-to-plymouth.html have a look through here, Reading the description on the 8th large picture suggests there was a loop at Scorrier for freight

Not a stock photo this time, but stock footage on BBC» Breakfast Points West opt out this morning. On an item on a royal personage doing something regal at Kemble station (details passed me by) in amongst the images of FGW▸ HSTs▸ gliding in and out of the platforms was a close shot of a Crosscountry HST moving along a platform which could have been anywhere (but not Kemble, I submit).

It's not impossible that it was Kemble station, Cross Country have diverted trains via Kemble, including HSTs▸ , but on very rare occasions, it would certainly be rather unlikely that they have footage of a Cross Country train there.
