It is good to see rovers on there but there seem to be some bugs in the system.

The earliest date I can buy a Freedom of the South West 8 in 15 Rover is 1st December.  The next screen says they can only be bought three days in advance. The screen after that only offers 1st Class post as a delivery option.  I haven't completed the purchase but I am wondering if I did book one to start on, say, December 1st they would post it out so I received it no more than three days before its start date.  (Actually posting it three days before its start date might be a bit tight!)

The All Line Rover I can buy from 21st November but again it is by post only.

Agreed being able to buy on line is good, I just worry when the post is involved.  As I normally reserve a number of seats at the same time as buying a rover I am not sure how much I will use the facility in practice.

A second point is the Rover normally carries the name of the user.  What if I buy two - one for me and one for a travelling companion - will they both carry my name?

When I buy DaySave online from Southern, the "Issued To" field is blank, so that you can write your own name in there.  I assume this will be the same, although definitely an issue for FGW (First Great Western) to clarify.

I purchased a 3 in 7 Severn & Solent from on board a local train last week. The conductor never bothered asking for my name and I never bothered writing it in myself. Had no issues using the ticket during its validity without my name on it.

I too have been issued with a Rover at a booking office with no name and had no problems using it.  I was more concerned that the computer might print the username on a rover by default.  But then I guess if no one notices it is blank they won't notice if two people travelled with apparently the same names.... Moderator Note: To reflect the confirmation of the change by FGW (First Great Western) to the WebTIS 'Mixing Deck' booking engine I've taken the liberty of re-titling this thread from the original question 'FGW Ditching Trainline?' to something more suitable.

no problem

Tht mixing desk appears to be really simple to use.  Huh

Both Hull Trains and ScotRail have switched to ATOS WebTIS. That's the full compliment of First Group rail companies now using the 'Mixing Deck'.

Quite a loss for thetrainline.

A little. Cheers

Usually when such a substantial change takes place to computer systems in my place of work we get a training course to go with it! :-)

I purchased a ticket a few days ago and collected it from a Red Spotted Hanky TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) just 1 minute and 50 seconds later.

Much easier interface than The Train Line, especially the way that the train times are presented.

All round good move IMO ('in my opinion').

Didn't realise there were "website specific" ones.

I assume there is some arrangement with the university where I work as it is plonked in the reception area.  I don't actually work for the university, but I believe Red Spotted Hanky are their preferred supplier for train tickets.  Will try to get a picture of it sometime.  Seems like a relatively novel idea.

Can't be many TOCs (Train Operating Company) left using Trainline now. No wonder Trainline have upped their advertising, e-shots etc to keep business.
