*Where Was I Today?

Just three to guess and they're darn easy. Whilst I travelled by train today, my mind was on other things so I didn't snap much railway stuff. Those who follow me on Facebook should refrain from answering unless these aren't guessed in the next few hours!

One go each.

Right I will take a guess here and see if I am correct.

I will say picture 1 is shirehampton, picture 2 is Taunton (The waiting shelter in the middle of the island platform)  and picture 3 is that swing bridge just after Seal Mills station  as you head to Avonmouth.

Well, that's them all guessed correctly in record time. anthony215 is however disqualified. Perhaps 'one go each' should have been in bold. At least he didn't get all three right.  Roll Eyes Tongue Wink

1. Shirehampton
2. Taunton
3. Dawlish

If number 3 was the bridge at Sea Mills I'd've needed a boat at high tide for that angle and a time machine to have snapped a 143 on the Severn Beach Line.  Grin Grin Grin

Anywhoo. Well done anthony215 (I suppose) and Devon Big Bird.

The temporary step access to the down platform at Dawlish was damaged by waves this morning. Passengers to and from down trains were having to be escorted across the barrow crossing to get to and from the platform.

There was little work going on on the new footbridge either. The new span is in place but the staircases are still to be replaced. I spoke with one of the contractors who told me that they dismantled some scaffolding yesterday because of the high tide and high wind forecast. Sensible decision.

By midday though things were calm enough to walk along the sea wall from Dawlish Warren as far as the first footbridge. I say 'calm enough', myself and the girlfriend still did get a little damp when one breaking wave caught us out just as we got to said footbridge. Damp, but quite refreshing!
