Top two posts up for grabs at the DfT» (Department for Transport - about). Norman Baker for Minister perhaps? But who is going to get the top job of Secretary? At least it won't be Jeremy Hunt, he's got the poisoned chalice of the Health portfolio.

Patrick McLoughin is the new Secretary of State for Transport, moving from Chief Whip.

Good news possibly for the pro '3rd runway at Heathrow' camp. Greening and Villiers were both against the idea.

Maybe not so good news for the pro HS2 (The next High Speed line(s)) camp.

Oh dear, fancy putting the Stafford MP (Member of Parliament) (in the route of HS2 (The next High Speed line(s))) as transport secretary!
Shame - I thought Justine was good!

Justine Greening has got International Development.

Dave has a sense of humour then. She'll be regularly flying in and out of Heathrow!

Lets hope we at least get a pro-rail Minister to replace Theresa Villiers.

Eh? Patrick McLoughlin is MP for Derbyshire Dales.

Boris Johnson has reacted angrily to the removal of Justine Greening as SoS for Transport.

From the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) News Cabinet reshuffle live text feed:

Quote
1248: London Mayor Boris Johnson has hit out at the removal of Justine Greening as Transport Secretary, saying it meant the government was intent on the "simply mad" policy of a new runway at Heathrow. He vowed to fight any such expansion "all the way".

Must be a mistake on the BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) website then!

Good for Boris - we need a 4 runway airport, not a 2.5 runway airport!

Someone is needed who is going to go and kick some Daft butt especially if Virgin's concerns over the way franchises are being awarded are proved correct.

Patrick McLoughlin is MP (Member of Parliament) for Derbyshire Dales.

Very rural Derbyshire - Matlock & Bakewell.  Looks like he also covers Crich.  Been around a long time - Chief Whip in Opposition for the Tories after Cameron became Leader and Government Chief Whip since 2010.  Strikes me as a big promotion for him.

Sorry to see such a shake up at Transport again but there you go.  I suspect our one bit of stability will be Norman Baker staying where he is.
