William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Level crossing barriers failed at St Andrews crossing, in the end the 1115 ran as booked but started from Redland as far as I can see.

The 1115 from Avonmouth was terminated at Clifton Down and then turned round to head back to Severn Beach at 1129 so that services could get back on timetable.

An earlier outbound service from Bristol Temple Meads at 1034 was also terminated and turned at Clifton Down returning to Bristol TM‡(resolve) as timetabled at 1048. Passengers on that train would've had a bit of a wait for the onward journey toward Avonmouth at 1129.

But it appears that was the best solution to minimise delays, with only part cancellations. Although unit and staff diagrams were probably jiggered around.
