I was on this train today..Got to Slough on time (19.06)... the "advertised" connection which is at 19.11 was showing as "delayed"..

To cut a long story short.. we stood there for 20 minutes.. no announcements... Asked the odd staff member.. no one knew much... Eventually having asked other staff members we found out it was going to be a good 50 minutes from arriving before we could leave Slough again (cue taxis that we had to pay for ourselves).. What IS the problem with information at Slough? Why is that connections advertised and then this can happen?. Last time I sat it out it was 40 minutes at Slough.. It's not acceptable is it for a 25 minute journey?

I sympathise with you.

TV (Thames Valley) services seem to be getting rather sloppy.

Last week I took my wife to the station on Wednesday last week and her train was 3 down 08:54 vice 08:51 the up train 08:49 arrived about the same time. But the stupid thing is that both would probably arrive on time as the Down is allowed 12 minutes from Twyford to Raeding and the Up is allowed 12 minutes fro Ealing to Padd.

Also Friday took my son for the 18:39 to reading got there about 18:20 to see the 18:06 pull out 18:39 also shown as being late on CIS (Customer Information System) not sure what time time it left as didn't wait.

Last night the the following fast to Slough ~(19:21) Padd due 19:36 hadn't arrived by 19:50 so something wrong somewhere.

Just observations but intermediate timekeping seems to have dropped off lately.

As I keep saying railways need to be run briskly (Gerry Fiennes)

There was a points failure last night that affected the up airport to up main and down relief lines, while this mainly affected heathrow services there was some knock on effect on tv services travelling on the releif lines so may go some way to explaining the delay to your service

It doesn't however excuse the lack  of communication but having been in that situation myself the station staff are often the last to know, although to be fair to fgw i find that network rail can be just as much to blame for this
