Railway books

Not sure if appropriate to post, but Tesco Extra in Pool, near Redruth have a small range of "local" railway books at half RRP. bought one for myself this afternoon.
They are marketed in the "local books" section and had 5-6 titles of cornwall, and south west rail books. I purchased a cornwall now and then photos book, admittedly most of the now are actually early to mid 90s, but still may be of interest to some people on here

I'm always interested in railway books going cheap! Particularly those that feature the railways in the South West. I don't suppose you have some titles or ISBNs, richwarwicker, so I could see whether Tesco (or other retailers) are also selling these books online?

Bignosemac, the title I have bought was "British Railways Past and Present, Cornwall" ISBN 978-0-7524-4645-5
The present is still 20 years ago, but that didnt bother me really. They had about half a dozen titles in the same series.

Well, can't afford a rail jolly down to Tesco in Kernow on a wild book chase, but thanks for the reply richwarwicker. And thanks Brucey for the more in depth search. 

Never know, might find something interesting during my regular trawls through the charity shops in Brizzle.

Oxfam Books on Park Street is a good place to spend an hour or so searching. Found a couple of Colin Maggs' books in there recently; one called 'Taunton Steam' and another about the Taunton to Barnstaple line. Got two copies of that second one at ^3.50 each. Spare copy free to a good home. PM if interested.

Oxfam actually have an online bookstore, which presents listings from local stores (link on my website, above).  Not had a good chance to look through, but 'Great Western Railway' brings up 31 results.

Prices are fairly good, with free postage, although it is possible to make an additional postage donation.

I've bought many good books from oxfam, cancer research and many other charity shops. Often the best places for books, just no guarantee what they will have

One down side to Oxfam is that they tend to know what they've got and price accordingly. The real joy is going into a charity shop and finding a gem of a book for 50p.

A few months back I found L.T.C. Rolt's 'Red for Danger: A History of British Railway Disasters' in a charity shop in Taunton. It was in hardback with no dust cover and there was no price on it. The lovely old dear on the till said, "50p." I paid that and put ^2 in the collection box.

Popped into tesco again today only had one other title today, Past and Present west Cornwall, ISBN 978-0-7524-5611-9
The present in these are more modern, with pics from 2008 that i've noticed so far. FGW^▸ (First Great Western) sprinters in local lines, and xc liveried voyagers
