Content has been reduced, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Fawlty Towers episode: 'The Psychiatrist' on the way back from watching a recording of the TV (Thames Valley) show 'QI' in London this evening. Seen all of Fawlty Towers loads of times, but Basil and Co still make me chuckle and occasionally guffaw.... which may've been unsettling for the folk around me!

Hotel Guest (asking about somewhere for an evening meal): "Anywhere they do French food?"
Basil: "Yes. France I believe. They seem to like it there. The swim will certainly sharpen your appetite. You better hurry. The tide leaves in six minutes."

Another trip to London and beyond tomorrow. May well see what else is on offer on Volo. Although my return journey as far as Reading is booked seats in Coach A. Being 1830, the chances of grabbing two seats in 'D' off Paddington are likely limited.

Still. Evening peak and walk-up ticket. Just glad to have bagged some seat reservations. Thanks to FGW (First Great Western) via Facebook for that.  Wink

Must admit when I walked through Coach D today on a London bound service there were more people watching on the screens than I have seen for a long time.

As for Fawlty Towers - never tire of that.  Perhaps the fact they only made 12 and didn't try to keep on past their best helps.

My favourite quote - from 'Basil the Rat'- the final episode.. Basil says to Manuel "You have rats in Spain, don't you - or did Franco have them all shot?"

Basil says to Manuel "You have rats in Spain, don't you - or did Franco have them all shot?"

Manuel: I say to man in shop "Is rat." He say "No, no, no. Is a special kind of hamster. Is filigree Siberian hamster." Only one in shop. He make special price: only five pound.

Wildly off topic now but for some reason there was a seven month gap between episode 5 and episode 6 (Basil the Rat) being shown.  Not sure why.

Staying off topic, but it's interesting to discuss nonetheless. BBC» (British Broadcasting Corporation - home page) technicians strike.....

From Wikipedia:

Quote
Production of the last two episodes (in 1979) was disrupted by a strike of BBC technical staff, which resulted in the recasting of the role of Reg (the wisecracking friend of Basil and Sybil) in "The Anniversary", and delayed the episode's transmission date by one week. The episode "Basil the Rat" was also delayed, not being screened until the end of a repeat showing six months later.
