Riviera Trains, on behalf of FGW▸ , will be operating loco hauled diagrams between Cardiff-Bristol-Weston-Taunton from December 10th thru to January 9th. I guess this is happening to compensate for the amount of stock away for refurb at present.

I just came on here to post it - and see you beat me to it!
Good thing about using Skips, is there shouldn't be a coach full of bashers with the train!
It would seem FGW▸ have found a soloution to last years Weekday polavoa!

They're in for a treat. The set the worked in Cornwall was pretty tidy inside, all at tables, comfortable seats.

I think the real reason they are hiring these sets is to allow for a poor changeover onto the new timetable like last year, allow for the 142's to "settle in" by leaving two extra units there and to avoid overcrowding caused by the loss of 158's.

Exactly, but good work by FGW▸ for doing so!

Yes Im glad you offered Jim. I know what a 'Basher' is, but what is a 'skip'? a class 67 perhaps? I was also curious about you post yesterday. Were you referring to a train that hasn't been cleaned in a while? And whats a gricer?

Can't disagree with you there. With FGW▸ running these services there won't be a repeat over the overcrowding come December TT change for the press and media to talk about as there will be five coach trains running services allowing other services to be strengthened or at least not shortened to replace the trains that are leaving. You have to give credit to FGW for this one. Now we know why Andrew Griffiths was able to say a definate NO there won't be a repeat of scenes that happened last December as he would have known about this nice little arrangement to run loco stock for a few a while now. ANYWAY the good news about all this is that it must now mean that Riviera trains have all the right paperwork to run loco services for FGW so that means that the Loco and coaches will be coming back for the bucket and spade services to Weymouth next summer. Something to look forward to. FGW dont let us down on this one...please

Gosh, I'll be spoilt for choice. Do I get the new 0846 voyager from Nailsea or stick around and get the 0859, now with with loco-hauled stock instead of a bus on wheels. No contest from the comfort perspective. Let's hope they get kept on for longer than a month.
As others have said, well done FGW▸ .

One concern is that 2K28 is scheduled to continue as the 21:45 Bristol TM‡ to Severn Beach. Since these diagrams have the stock heading off to Barton Hill at that point, I wonder if this will involve a swap onto a unit - or more worryingly whether the 21:45 will be regularly canceled?
