Can I nominate this as most sensible Btline post of the year? Well it's better than the piffle about removing all the slack from the timetables and running the trains round like a Scalextrix with piles...

From the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald: Rail company transforms carriage for Queen's Diamond Jubilee
First Great Western has redesigned the livery of one of its trains to help celebrate the Queen^s Diamond Jubilee.
The new-look High Speed Train Power Car could be travelling through Swindon right now, carrying the official emblem for the Queen^s Diamond Jubilee 2012, designed by 10-year-old Katherine Dewar from Chester.
It took a day for a specialist team to ^wrap^ the train at First Great Western^s Laira Depot in Plymouth, before having her nose and roof repainted by Laira^s maintenance team. After a test run last week, the train is back in full service, operating throughout Wiltshire and the South West from Tuesday.
Gavin Payne, First Great Western Contracts Engineer at Laira depot said: "The speed at which these guys can remodel, refresh, wrap and paint a train is incredible. And it looks fantastic too. Being able to join the country as we celebrate 60 years of the Queen as Monarch, and hopefully be able to bring a smile as the quirky design passes through stations, is awesome."
First Great Western is treating first class customers to a high tea in the first class lounge on Friday, June 1 ahead of the Jubilee weekend, where the power car will be at Paddington station for all customers to enjoy.
From ThisIsSouthDevon: VIDEOS: Keeping the Diamond Jubilee celebrations on trackCelebrations for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee are right on track. In fact, the jubilee will be celebrated on the rails as well as on the streets. In celebration of the big event, train operators First Great Western have "wrapped" an HST▸ power car locomotive. The complex procedure sees the loco adorned with pictures and logos, as seen in this video released by First Great Western today. In this video, HSTcallum captures the new livery as the train leaves Newbury bound for Plymouth. The power car is coming to a station near you. It is in service across the FGW▸ network.

As a thanks to FGW▸ for daubing one of their HST power cars with Diamond Jubilee vinyls, Brenda has agreed to have Buck House repainted in 'Dynamic Lines' in 2016 and will herself be wearing 'power car blue' during the celebrations for the Class 43's 40th anniversary. A specially commissioned wardrobe of alternate outfits for HM is also being designed, featuring blue and yellow twin-sets, as well as outfits featuring swallow and merlin motifs.

Oh, and anyone care to tell the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald the difference between a power car and a carriage?

That youtube video from FGW▸ is available on many news sites - for example, from the BBC» : First Great Western train gets Diamond Jubilee livery
First Great Western (FGW) has coated one of its diesel locomotives in special livery to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The new design was created by 10-year-old Katherine Dewar, from Chester.
She was chosen from 35,000 entries in a nationwide competition run by BBC children's programme Blue Peter.
The wrapped High Speed Train Power Car is in service across the FGW network.
Congratulations to the talented Katherine Dewar for her winning design, I say: there was clearly a lot of competition!

It pulled us into PAD» this morning on the 08.00 fast from Maidenhead. Quite a striking design, a bit garrish with the dark blue as a backround. Must have been a sight crossing the Maidenhead Bridge.

Nearly failed on the 12.55 to Paddington from Ply on Friday. Driver fired it up with ensuing odd sounds and switched it off. However away it went East about 30 mins later! Hope it survived.

Well I was sat on the 1323 XC▸ at the time and the 1255 left at about 1315. However, we all got held up by a points failure at Dawlish Warren so don't blame the late arrival at Paddington on the Power Car problem
