British Transport Police issue CCTV and appeal for information after theft of wallet ^ Devon
British Transport Police (BTP▸ ) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with a theft which took place on board a train between Ivybridge and Newton Abbot rail stations.
Officers have today released CCTV images of a man they believe will have information which can assist the investigation into the incident which took place between 7pm and 7.30pm on Wednesday, 1 February 2012.
Investigating officer, PC Steve Campbell, said: ^The victim, a woman travelling on board the 1724hrs Truro to Exeter St David^s service, reported that she had accidentally left her wallet in the toilet on board the train. The wallet contained bank and credit cards and around ^20 cash.
^Enquiries have been ongoing since the incident and, after viewing CCTV at the location, I am now keen to trace and speak to the man in this photograph as I believe he will have information which can assist the investigation into the theft of the wallet.
^I believe he boarded the train at Ivybridge at around 7pm and lighted around 30 minutes later at Newton Abbot rail station.^
The man officers want to speak to is described as being white, aged about 19, about 5ft 11in, of slim build. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, a grey fleece top and light grey-coloured plimsoll trainers.
Anyone who knows the man^s identity, or his current whereabouts, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
