This way to the new King's Cross concourse:

Further pictures here (beware large page!)

Most impressed by how proud all the staff are of their new environment - a really friendly place, with them chatting with the customers.   Hope it stays that way.

Some great pictures there, Graham.  Not only showing off the fine design of the new structure, which has already been demonstrated in the various press releases, but also the way people are interacting with it - which is arguably the most important thing.  Let's hope that as well as looking great, it doesn't suffer like Newport has in some people's eyes by not functioning well as an actual experience - from what you've said that doesn't appear to be the case.

After the triumph of St. Pancras International, this great piece of modern design is now plonked alongside it.  I intend to take a look as soon as time allows and I'm also looking forward to seeing the new public square when completed next year.

Call me picky if you will, but couldn't they have secured Harry Potter's trolley to the wall without using those highly visible brackets?    Roll Eyes

Where is Platform 9 3/4 now? Is it accessible without passing through a gateline?

Surely they'll have to move it when platform 0 is axed and renumbered as 1, etc.

Ahh, so you were one of the finger pointers at KGX then grahame? Didn't see you there on Weds 21st March.  Tongue

As I was walking into the entrance to the old concourse one of these 'finger pointers' told me, quite abrubtly, "SIR, Departures that way!" I replied, with a normal sized finger point, "WH Smith this way"  Wink

Took a couple of pics myself.

The 'Platform 9 3/4' sign and trolley is in the concourse, immediately under the footbridge from the mezzanine floor, facing towards the main station.  It is in exactly the right place to allow for a future platform renumbering, ie currently between 8 and 9, in the future it would be between 9 and 10.

I passed through the new concourse yesterday and was suitably impressed.  The surburban platforms now feel part of the main station at long last.

I hope they make as good a job of Reading when its finished Roll Eyes
