Does anyone know what work is going on at Lawrence Hill? Steps (from the bridge) to a non-existent platform have been erected today, so is a new platform being built?

Cough. Sorry: I rather think that I ought to know something about this work - but clearly I don't. I'll make some enquiries and post here as soon as I have any further information. CfN.

I too am scratching my head a little. I've seen all the contractor's plant (never heard of 'Murphy' before) in the Lidl car-park and was wondering what was afoot.....
Popping through there tomorrow (er... later today) so I'll ask the 'men-at-work' what work they are doing.

Did anyone find out what the work is all about?
On a slight aside surveying work continues at Filton.

the current steps are to be rebuilt as they have seen much better days, but before work can commence some temporary steps have to be erected, which involves lots of additional work due to the limited access, hence temporary steps down to the old platform, then a temporary path over the old trackbed and on to the platform. once they^ve got all that in place they can get to work knocking down the old steps^

Photos taken today can be viewed here.Work is by Network Rail to replace station footbridge, existing platform surfaces and perimeter fencing. It should take 3 months to complete.

Let's hope it's a quicker job than Radley, where from what I recall a "temporary" footbridge was in place for months and possible years following the demolition of the original before finally being replaced with a permanent structure.

Err... There is no footbridge as such at Lawrence Hill, just steps up to the main road.

My wording is taken from the poster explaining the nature of the works, which is displayed on the Filton-bound platform.

Seems it was a bit tricky getting down those concrete steps in a wheelchair. Temporary access to the Bristol platform has been built: Work is under way on the Bristol platform: I was aware there were plans for ramped access to the Bristol platform, but it looks like the Filton platform is being done as well, even though there is level access via Lidl's car park:
