press release:
Do you know these men? Appeal for information after anti-social behaviour on train ^ Cheltenham/Swindon
British Transport Police (BTP▸ ) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify five men they want to speak to in connection with an incident on board a train between Cheltenham Spa and Swindon railway stations.
Officers have today released CCTV▸ images of the men who they believe will have information which can assist the investigation.
It is thought the men had earlier attended Cheltenham Racecourse and then went on to travel to the London area after changing trains at Swindon.
PC Leighton Rivers, investigating officer, said the incident took place as the 2119hrs Cheltenham Spa - Swindon service travelled between Kemble and Swindon on Saturday, 28 January 2012.
^Officers believe the men were returning to the London area after attending Cheltenham races on Saturday 28 January,^ said PC Rivers. ^The men were seen on CCTV smoking on board the train, which is prohibited. When challenged by the conductor on board the service, one of the men threw a can of beer at the conductor. Although the can struck the conductor on the forehead, he did not suffer any injuries but was left shaken by the incident.
^The men boarded a London-bound train after changing trains at Swindon railway station at around 10.30pm. After viewing CCTV from the train, I am keen to speak to the men in these photographs as I believe they will have information which can assist the investigation.^
