I have just seen this and it has me flummoxed. On East Coast website.

Kidderminster to Manchester Pic; out 31st Dec, return 1st Jan

On the return leg, most of the services have no fare valid for that train. Does that make them free? Is an off peak return valid on them?

Doing a search from Worcester - Manchester has no problems.

What's going on?

Just had a look on the XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) site and doesn't seem to be a problem. NYE and NYD are both at the weekend so no restrictions on off peak tickets.

Looking at it on National Rail, the common denominator seems to be routes back via New St and Moor St are not showing return fares, so might it be struggling to solve a routeing issue?

Thanks for the replies. Still doesn't make sense though...

I assume that an Off Peak return KID - MAN will simply be valid on any return train within a month (after 0930).

I want to book on EC to get points! Tongue
