A comment from a member the other day that things have been a bit quiet - good, perhaps, in that services have been pretty reliable.   This is going to really please anyone commuting from Westbury and Pewsey into London today ...

06:12 Frome to London Paddington due 08:01
06:12 Frome to London Paddington due 08:01 has been cancelled.
This is due to a points failure.

Quote
04:51 Plymouth to London Paddington due 08:35
04:51 Plymouth to London Paddington due 08:35 will be diverted between Taunton and Reading.
It will no longer call at Castle Cary, Westbury, Pewsey, Bedwyn, Hungerford and Newbury.
This is due to a points failure.

I wonder where the points failure is?

Mentioning traffic ... from a none-scientific first look this morning (biased sample of one trip), I've got the impression that shorter journeys are making a comeback far more quickly than longer ones, so perhaps there won't be too many people to collect from Pewsey ... 06:41 and 07:19 cancelled, but Real Time Trains is showing an 07:49 VST / 1Z69 so perhaps that's a mop up.   Train showing at 08:17 too ... ex Plymouth, and at Castle Cary as I write.

East Somerset Junction.

ECS (Empty Coaching Stock) for the 06:12 comes from Stoke Gifford via Taunton and was held at Castle Cary.

Today the ecs for the Frome-Paddington was 85 late off The depot and ran from Temple Meads to Pewsey, via the Hawkridge curve. It left Pewsey just 25 late.
Curiosity then got me wondering why the ecs is routed via Taunton.
