CCTV IMAGES RELEASED AFTER TRAIN ASSAULT ^ WORTHING
British Transport Police (BTP▸ ) officers have released CCTV images after a man was attacked on a train approaching Worthing rail station.
Officers have released the images of three men they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place around 9.30pm on a Brighton to Portsmouth service on Tuesday, 1 November.
The victim, a 41-year-old from Worthing, asked three men onboard the service why they had swastikas daubed on their cheeks, with the group making racially-offensive remarks in reply.
When the man stood to leave the service at Worthing one of the men punched him to the side of his face, damaging his glasses and leaving him with a small cut above his right eye.
The men fled the service at Worthing but returned on a later train, having removed the swastikas from their faces. They were last seen leaving Fishergate station around 11.30pm.
Inspector Gary Ancell said: ^We^ve made local enquiries to try and get names for these three, but without luck so far. It isn^t altogether clear why the victim was attacked but we will do all we can to catch the person responsible.
^The facial images from CCTV are pretty clear, and I am confident that someone will recognise one of these men and tell us who they are. If you have any information that could help our investigation we want to hear from you.^
