Celia's fault. It was fine before she came along...

Seriously, even Oxford is criticised. How can Ditra stations be criticised when they are far superior in every respect to any other system? And Phil (and I suppose Celia) are very clear and easy to hear, unlike ATOS Anne, who should be EXTERMINATED.

Funnily Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley have different voices despite both being run by Network Rail. Waverley's voice (to my knowledge) is that of Juliet the Station Manager for NR» (Network Rail - home page), can only assume that Glasgow is someone similar with a more west coast twang.

Normally pretty good but every timetable change there'll be a change in calling pattern and the announcements will start missing stations that haven't been recorded. (Such as Teignmouth, Heald Green, Laurencekirk)

Perhaps Oxford is criticised because you can't hear the announcements from within the concourse any more?  Since the system was upgraded I don't think anything gets announced in there and on the platforms you often get Phil and Celia competing with each other announcing simultaneously on platforms 1 and 2 which can be annoying.

IIRC ('if I recall/remember/read correctly') Digital Doris from Wessex days, who was Ruth, went to Nottingham for 3 Days for the recordings and every Station in Britain was recorded 3 times.

It took a Morning to Do all off England, the Afternoon to do Scotland, and TWO days to do all the Stations in Wales Grin  Grin

But even after all that we still ended up with "Buglulyan" on the Newquay branch.

Can't understand all those people saying the announcements are muffled and hard to hear??? Huh  Every time I've been in Birmingham New Street I can allways clearly hear the announcements.  When I was there just the other week Phil Sayer's announcements were being used as well as that female announcer(not sure of her name, but I think she sounds a little grumpy every time I hear her announcements).
