From the BTP (British Transport Police) press release:

DO YOU RECOGNISE THIS MAN? TRANSPORT POLICE APPEAL FOR WITNESSES AFTER THEFT OF LUGGAGE FROM TRAIN ^ BATH/CHIPPENHAM

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger^s property from on board a train between Bath Spa and Chippenham railway stations.

Officers have today released CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) images of the man they believe will have information which can assist their investigation into the incident which took place on Wednesday 2 February 2011.

Detective Constable Danny Murphy, investigating officer, said: ^The victim, a 52-year-old man from the USA, boarded the 1.30pm Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington service and placed his luggage, a grey roll-along flightcase, in the racks at the end of the carriage. He checked his luggage when the train was at Bath Spa rail station but when he next checked at Swindon rail station, he realised it was missing from the racks.

^Officers have viewed CCTV Images and would now like to speak to the man in these photographs as we believe he may have information which can assist our enquiry. We believe he boarded the train at Bath Spa and alighted at Chippenham rail station. He then caught a taxi to the Ladyfield Road area of Chippenham.

^I would ask anyone who recognises this man, or who knows his whereabouts, to contact British Transport Police immediately.^

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE RE-APPEAL FOR WITNESSES AFTER THEFT OF LUGGAGE FROM TRAIN ^ CHIPPENHAM

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are re-appealing for the public^s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger^s property from on board a train between Bath Spa and Chippenham railway stations.

One month on, officers have re-issued CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) images of the man they believe will have information which can assist their investigation into the incident which took place on Wednesday 2 February 2011.

Detective Inspector Mick Southerton, investigating officer, said he believed the man police want to trace lives in the Chippenham area.

^The victim, a 52-year-old man from the USA, boarded the 1.30pm Bristol Temple Meads to London Paddington service and placed his luggage, a grey roll-along flightcase, in the racks at the end of the carriage,^ DI Southerton said. ^He checked his luggage when the train was at Bath Spa rail station but when he next checked at Swindon rail station, he realised it was missing from the racks.

^Officers have viewed CCTV Images and would now like to speak to the man in these photographs as we believe he may have information which can assist our enquiry.

^We believe he boarded the train at Bath Spa and alighted at Chippenham rail station. He then caught a taxi to the Ladyfield Road area of Chippenham, so we believe he could live nearby.

^I would ask anyone who recognises this man, or who knows his whereabouts, to contact British Transport Police immediately.^
