In the past, I've paid ^13 odd for an adult travelcard to London all zones (off peak) from Maidenhead and then take up to four children for ^1 each for their travelcards. Has that fare disappeared now does anyone know? I was just looking up fares on FGW (First Great Western) site and it was about ^6.50 each per child even with an adult? It'll be a backward step if that fare has gone  Sad

Just checked Fares Manual and it still exists.

Thanks Ollie.. This is related to my other post in the Swindon board.. If I go into FGW (First Great Western) site and ask for Maidenhead to Paddington next Saturday.. 12noon departure, 6pm return, 3 adults, 5 children it is quoting me ^13.50 per adult and ^6.75 per child..

Just out of interest then.. Does the same thing work for Reading travelcards? Same amount of people? Does the ^1 apply from there too? And if so how much are the adult travelcards?

It's not making it easy to work out the cheapest option  Roll Eyes

Did read somewhere that the ^1 flat fare has increased to ^2. Ill have to remember where I read it and post it on here.

I do not work for FGW (First Great Western) and posts should not be assumed and do not imply they are statements, unless explicitly stated that they are, from any TOC (Train Operating Company) including First Great Western.

"Adult prices are shown in your TIS (Ticket Issuing System, or Traction Interlock Switch, depending on context) or the Fares Finder, ticket code FTC. Children travel at a flat fare of ^00, except on First Capital Connect and National Express East Anglia where a ^00 flat fare applies and on Chiltern Railways where a ^00 flat fare applies."

According to the Southern website
Quote
The Family Travelcard had to be removed from sale, due to a limitation of the system which will sell the adult ticket separately without the child.

We are working with our suppliers to enable this ticket to be sold correctly in future.

This ticket is still available however only at the ticket office
