Why at the station are you told not to leave your luggage unattended, yet as soon as you get on the train you're meant to leave it at the end of the carriage?

Also - as a solo traveller who may have to walk five cars to the buffet are you meant to take bags and suitcases with you to get coffee then if so how do you carry said coffee back

Very few organisations - in and out of the rail Industry - really have everything right for the lone traveller.   Go into a pub "choose your table, and order food at the bar" ... if you're alone, you come back to the table to find someone else has grabbed it.

And I felt really unwelcome at this pub in Plymouth:

A single room is one which doesn't have enough space for a double bed, and would formerly have been used to store brooms!

Most pubs seem to do 241 offers. It's simple really. The market for couples eating at pubs is larger than lone travellers, not the mention 2 drinks instead of 1 (or similar ratios).

2 drinks for 1 one is do-able for the lone traveller though!

Indeed.. Although I wonder how many lone travellers actually take advantage of this.. It would never have occurred to me..

I struggle with this too... I go to alot of places on my own, but feel very uneasy leaving my laptop unattended... So I always have to take my bag with me to the bar or toilet or wherever...! I remember a certain occasion where I left my bag on the seat next to me in G, G being the quiet carriage, i took a phonecall in the vestibule. There was a women who didn't have a First Class ticket in the b***dy first place, that despite quite clearly being able to see me between G & F, decided to go to the buffet and report my bag unattended...!

On the 2 4 1 side of the fence, although not related, when me and my friend go to a certain nightclub, they offer 2 for 1 drinks... But refuse to serve you just one drink should you only want one...! Not great for somebody who drinks mainly lemonade, has a very small bladder and there being a distinct lack of open loo's about at closing time Roll Eyes

As another aspect to this, What really gets on my t*ts is when my friend can buy a half pint of Strongbow for ^1.20 and get one free... I get charged ^2.00 for a half pint of Lemonade Lips sealed Roll Eyes Shocked Angry Yes I get one free too but much for encouraging sensible drinking...............! Grrr!
