OK so Mozilla and FGWPF don't seem to work as I expected - but I made it.  I've worked with 'delivery logistics' since 1965 and about the same time took an unhealthy interest in all modes of transport.  I've worked for British Rail, and was initially interviewed by Dick Hardy, and worked under Chris Green.  I've also enjoyed rebuilding a railway (Ffestinniog) and converting a few to cycle routes - and reverting them to railways.

From my identity you might guess that I do quite a bit with cycling and I'll be posting a couple of threads soon, more to challenge a clear area where the rail operation in the UK (United Kingdom) is missing the point that no one makes a journey solely between railway stations, and unlike their colleagues in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, and many other places they miserably fail to deliver the complete product of a door to door journey in a repeatable and reliable form (Plus bus falls seriously short on this in most cases as there is rarely a coherent link with the bus service).

The journey time savings for High Speed Rail are being delivered here & now for every station in the UK rather than an elite few, by a low cost, incremental, and instantly applied process of cutting out the mess of inbound and onward connections - typically for London Commuters a reduction of up to one hour on a door to desk trip is possible, with some people also saving up to ^8000/year in the direct and linked costs of getting to & from their rail service.  Shake that around in front of people and they soon perk up and take notice.  I predict that we may have an observable opportunity with the closure of the H&C and not-the-Circle Line services at Paddington to match previous events (Thameslink blockade 2004-05 and Waterloo & City blockade 2006-07).  If we get in fast with the monitoring.

Watch out for my colleagues Otto Barnes, S N Barnes, and A V Hon voicing their opinions.
