BTP RELEASES CCTV IMAGES AND APPEALS FOR INFORMATION AFTER INCIDENT ON TRAIN - WESTON-SUPER-MARE

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for the public^s help to identify two men following a public order incident on board a train in the Weston-super-Mare area.

Officers have today, Wednesday 16 June 2010, released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which left a train manager fearing for his safety.

The train manager on the 1410hrs Weston-super-Mare to Bristol Parkway service on Friday 28 May noticed that two men who boarded train at Weston were hiding in one of the train^s toilets.

He asked them to come out and buy tickets for their journey. The men opened the toilet door but refused to buy tickets before one of the men began swearing and threatening the member of staff.

The men left the train at Worle rail station but the man who had been abusive and threatening towards the train manager kicked the doors of the train as it left the station.

PC Linda Carey-Harris said: ^One of the men made threats to the train manager which left him believing he was about to be assaulted. Although no violence was used, the man^s threatening behaviour left the train manager shaken. Assaults on, or aggression towards, members of rail staff will not be tolerated by BTP. It^s vital that we identify the men in the CCTV pictures taken from on board the train as we believe they will have information which can assist our investigation.^

The man police would like to speak to about the threatening behaviour is described as being white, in his twenties, about 5ft 9in, well-built with a number of tattoos. He was wearing a white, sleeveless vest top.

He was with a second man who was wearing a white football-style top and who officers believe also has information which can help them.

Officers believe they may have been intending to travel to Parson Street rail station in Bristol.

Anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV images, or who knows their whereabouts, is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting incident number 276 of 28/05/2010.

Weston to Bristol train 'abuse' pair image released

Images of two men wanted after an incident on a Weston-super-Mare to Bristol train have been released by British Transport Police.

The two men boarded at Weston at about 1410 BST on 28 May and hid in one of the train's toilets.

When the train manager asked them to emerge and pay for their tickets, one man became aggressive and began making violent threats.

They left at Worle station, the same man kicking the train doors as it left.

The man suspected of threatening behaviour is described as about 5ft 9in, well-built with a number of tattoos and wearing a white, sleeveless vest top.

He was with a second man who was wearing a white football-style top.
