Out of area - not Porthleven in Cornwall. But can we learn from this?
Porthlethen has a population of just under 7,500 (2011 estimate). The station re-opened in 1985, and now has 5 train services a day to Aberdeen - three in the morning for commuters, a late morning train and one in the evening. Passenger numbers 2010/2011 were 18,382.

Mearns LeaderDoes it really just take comments by train users and local councillors to get an increased service in Scotland, or has the paper simplifiled it? Who's paying First Scotrail how much for any improvement, or is it a commercial proposition?
