I almost commented earlier when it was 139!

Noting no cancellations, and that a very high proportion of the issues are on the St Ives branch, down from 4 cars to 2.  RichardB can probably comment far better on this that I can, but I do wonder if we're now past the peak of the summer, and actually 2 carriages is going to be perfectly adequate today? 

3 down to 2 on Cardiff / Portsmouths will probably leave some "rammed" trains ... not good news in the Devon Metro area either.  Goes without saying that TransWilts carriage will be rammed again this evening

Probably will get away with just two carriages on the St Ive's branch today. Schools are back and the weather isn't that great.

As for the Cardiff-Portsmouth's, quite a few trains listed which is more of a concern. Many services when they are three carriages are full and standing so down to two is not good. Sooner the Turbos arrive the better.

Yes, I suspect many of those short forms won't be any problem whatsoever - as well as the St. Ives branch I very much doubt the 11:45 Oxford to Banbury and return will suffer in the slightest from being a 2-car vice 3-car.  Though any number nearing the mid 100s is obviously way too high, with 140 representing around 8% of the total number of GWR▸ (Great Western Railway) services running today.

Out of the 8 Diagrams which work the Cardiff Pompeys 3 of them were formed 2 Cars today.   When you see the GWR▸ (Great Western Railway) Journey Check  and it says "more trains requiring maintenance than usual" it indicates it's just relevant to an odd day but it has been day in and day out since May now.

One of the problems with the Cardiff-Portmouths comes when the two car replacement is a 150.  That means no seat reservations and no catering.  For anyone travelling long distance that does make a difference even if the train isn't busy.

150/2s are alright for catering.  It's just the /1s where the trolley can't pass through.

Agreed but quite often when it isn't a 158 the catering seems to vanish...
