After 30 or so years hoping that a large scale electrification of the railways would occur, having read the article below, I'm now not so sure.

Seriously though, ATOCs» (Association of Train Operating Companies See - here) wish list seems to have resulted in a flurry of local news items all over the country (such as the one reported here) which display a total lack of understanding of ATOCs position in the overall scheme of things...

iInteresting the phrase hoping the line will soon become live. Isn't it the O?H wires that supposed to be live. It would be very interesting if the line were live. or are we going back to third rail?
