Hi All,

Just wondering

Just packing up for tomorrow and realised my season expired today.  I was only going to get a week one as in two weeks I am off to the states for a week so a month is not worth it.

I need to be on the insomniac special tomorrow morning from WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains) and I suspect the chances of the ticket office being open is 50/50.

Was just wondering if the TM(resolve) can do a weeks season on the train?  I know they cant do monthlys but I do know the TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) can do 1 week seasons to london so im hoping

If not - does anyone have any ideas if they are still up tonight?  Can I buy a one way then renew at slough and claim the one way back?  Or am I going to be shafted for a day return?

Answers on a post card please.

TVMs (Ticket Vending Machine) can issue 7DS I belive so I imagine it's on the Avantix (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains) machines.

All fares are on AVB although advance purchase tickets can't be sold as generally these require seat reservations. Only weekly season tickets can be sold. Monthly and annual prices can be looked up by going to the season enquiry menu. All types of Railcard discounts, local council discount schemes and other concessions are loaded on to an AVB. PLUS+BUS tickets and rover tickets can also be sold along with certain ferry and bus through ticketing. AVB can handle both CRS station short codes and National Location Codes (NLCs (National Location Code)); but if the user does not know either code, typing in the station name will bring the fares up

I rather suspect that you'll need answers rather quicker than on a postcard, Mookiemoo!  Wink

I don't know - but to be fair, I've always found the on-board train staff are quite reasonable, and indeed very happy to help out, if a tactful 'appeal for help' is put to them?

Best wishes for your trip, anyway!  Grin

thanks
if I get there in time I'll try the TVM (Ticket Vending Machine) if the office isnt open but trying to do WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains)- OXF» (Oxford - next trains) and OXF - SLO from WOS could be interesting.

I dont think the TVM will let me do OXF-SLO - hence the query

Reason for the split - on a first class fair it saves you about 100 quid on a monthly!  Doesnt work that way on a standard

I'm sure the TM(resolve) will appreciate the extra revenue contributing towards their comission. (if they still get it)

Having thought of it - this rather dates me

I cannot remember the last time a competition asked for answers on a post card - in fact can you even get a post card anymore?  Other than touristy ones.

I have to admit I have never sent one - I just remember it from my child hood where competitions asked for answers on a post card

Only yesterday I posted a crossword competition stuck to the back of a post card - I read years ago that you stand more chance of winning like this than stuffing it in an envelope.

...............haven't yet had enough wins to prove or disprove that statement  Undecided

To clarify they can sell weekly tickets on train if there Avantix (Ticket Issuing System used on board trains) is working.
Also if you ask for a split ticket then they are obliged to sell what you ask for Smiley

Thanks everyone - slight panic over.

(1) the ticket office was open since I slept in and
(2) i realised today was the 26th not yesterday so I still had one day to go anyway!
 Embarrassed

unless you join at a station where ticket selling facilities where available at the time of travel

make sure you have your photocard and you wont have a problem
