I signed up this morning.

Why is "age" a required field in the sign up process, I wonder ...

I signed up as well - in fact, my entire family have signed up this morning, along with several other "people" I know (all of whom just happen to have email addresses that arrive in my "In" box  )

I put all sorts of different ages there, so it'll be interesting to see what differences there are in their marketing approach. The other thing all the addresses I used have in common is a desire to know the times of trains scheduled to arrive at Melksham. Sooner or later it'll dawn on FGW^▸ (First Great Western) that there is actually a demand there...

Now, rather belatedly (since my fellow moderators all seem to have signed up to this service a year ago ), I've just got round to subscribing to it myself, in the past week.

And it does seem to work, actually!  (I'm sorry if I sound surprised by this, FGW^▸ (First Great Western)).

I get cheery text messages, at least alerting me to cancellations or delays, while I'm trudging along to the station - so it's a useful facility, to supplement the 'live departure boards' on the FGW website that I tend to check before setting out.

Sorry if this is not news to those who already subscribe to this free service - but to those who haven't yet, I can now recommend it!

Worth noting Chris if you have a internet type facility on your phone, you could still check live departure boards on that, by visiting the national rail website, as it will load a mobile suitable version.

Fair comment, Ollie - but you're assuming I've got a mobile phone that can cope with anything more than just calls or texts!  I'm a technophobe!
