Hi,
I'm stuck on the 19.30 service from Paddington. We've made it a mile or two along the track but have not moved for the last 20 minutes not moving.
Train manager reports train ahead has hit an object but there's been no further news.
Boppy.

Train involved (an Oxford Paddington service) reporting hitting something.
Driver of a following train, asked to stop and examine, found a person had been hit.
An early cancellation was the 19:30 Bristol Temple Meads to London which was terminated at Swindon with the set now forming a train to Weston-Super-Mare in the path of the 19:30 from Paddington.

I was stood by our train manager Oliver whilst he spoke to the driver.
Plan is to go forward to Ealing Broadway and then head back to London Paddington.

Latest (at 20:15) is that relief lines can't be reopened as BTP▸ are unsure how the person got onto the tracks. For that reason they are currently treating the incident as suspicious.

Although not directly involved, it is bound to have stirred unpleasant memories for him. He's been back about 6-8 weeks properly...... since then he's been stuck in swansea because of one fatality and now this. At the risk of being too jovial - I think he's more annoyed at the moment that he should be home (but he's still at Pad) now and as it was going cold I've eaten all the pizza. I think its getting to the point now where a lot of them are half expecting a fatality on any given journey

Definitely been one of those days. Supposed to be heading to pad first thing tomorrow morning (6:11 from Swindon) but I'm guessing it's getting to the point where sets are now majorly displaced? Thoughts as usual with family of the person involved and to the many people working hard at FGW▸ doing what they can...

Many services have been turned round short of Paddington this evening, so set displacement shouldn't be too much of an issue. There may be some issues with staff being 'out of hours' but that shouldn't affect early morning services tomorrow as few, if any, staff will be rostered to work late tonight and early tomorrow.
There are rules that require a fixed period of rest between shifts. If memory serves me correctly it's a legal minimum of 12 hours between shifts for drivers. Agreements with employers and unions may allow for a longer period between shifts. ASLEFs» 'best practice' guide for drivers is for 14 hours minimum between shifts.

William Huskisson MP▸ was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830. Many more have died in the same way since then. Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Picked up incident when HST▸ stopped in Platform 2 at Slough for a long time. Club night at the Manor, presumme it was train involved. Passengers were presumambly transfered. as it was empty. Announcement made it was returing to Paddington which wouild ahve given any track basher a chance of the Down Main to Up Main Crossover just East of Slough. Also HST in Platform 3 as well no movement for long time on Reliefs.
Trains on Relief from around 21:45.
