Arrangements for Xmas & New Year services on FGW (First Great Western) and other TOCS are available on the National Rail website here:

Edit note: Thanks, SDA - I've added details to the calendar!

Looks like no major engineering work is taking place on the FGW (First Great Western) regions over the Christmas/New Year holiday, probably because Network Rail engineers will all be on the West Coast main line to make sure work taking place there gets completed on time!

Hi,

Thanks for posting the link.

I often have to commute during this period including often getting a late train back to Reading.  This is where I've had trouble before with not being able to get the right info for the last train back to Reading from London Paddington.

For example whereas that link is useful for say Wed 31st December currently and people will hopefully use it - other people may still use the journey planner on the same site which currently does not give the correct info for that day - I'm sure this will be updated in time but I remember last year I used the journey planner around that time of year and I simply did not get the correct info for trains back late in the evening.

I know that I'll need to travel back late on Fri 2nd January.  I'm not sure what an "Off-Peak" level of service means for that day and what that implies for late trains back to Reading - anyone know what will be the last train back that day to Reading or will it be the normal overnight service?

Thanks!

Off-peak service will generally mean that it's a mon-fri service without the additional services that get added during the peak periods.

But it is best to check nearer the time.
