My first job at Waterloo was as a filing clerk in the SW Division office.
We cross referenced files under the station concerned. Sunningdale had lots of entries . "Car hit gates (date and time.)" In those days the road was the A30 (no M3) and the gates were swung across the road. No warninglights either.
So it's nothing new.

The Waterloo-Reading train I was on this afternoon was delayed by half an hour because of crossing barrier problems at Sunningdale

The white van man was subsequently stopped by police and breath tested, no doubt he will now be prosecuted and hopefully get heavilly fined, there are some f***ing idiots out there, well, it was Camborne!

I thought you were talking about the ticket barriers at Plymouth, as there never seems to be anyone operating them, judging by the undesirables boarding trains without tickets recently!
