Looks like one of FGW (First Great Western)'s three car 158s must be out of action as another 2 car 158 is running the route today:

05:49 Westbury to Portsmouth Harbour due 07:45
This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. This is due to a train fault.

08:22 Portsmouth Harbour to Cardiff Central due 11:43
This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. This is due to an earlier train fault.

Tom can correct me if I'm wrong but I assume this will then run the 12.30 Cardiff-Portsmouth, 16.22 Portsmouth-Cardiff later in the day?

This train will run short formed with 2 carriages. This is due to an earlier train fault.

Portsmouth-Cardiff services are all diagrammed as 3-coach 158's though (link below.)

Correct, but there are still some 3 coach 158s to be put together. I'm sure Jim would update us, but he's banned...

FGW (First Great Western) rolling stock
All twelve First Great Western single carriage class 153 units have now been refurbished by Wabtec Rail at Doncaster. First Great Western now has eight three-carriage refurbished class 158 units in service ^ the company is planning to have eleven three-carriage refurbished class 158 units, primarily for use on services between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour.

Hope this helps.

Looks like one of the new 158/9^s has had problems as it has reverted to 2 car as it ran last nights 1822 BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)) Pompey. It arrived at Filton as 2 car but fortunately attached to a 150 on Platform 1.

As an aside I take it there is a broken rail at Filton junction judging by the speed restriction currently imposed there.
