Yeah, they just had to stick their oar in. funny that the crowding has got no worse since the pandemic, but this is the first time since then that they choose to put out a press release. Funny that.

What is funny about the timing of the LTW press release ChrisB?

Being dismissive of safety concerns, no matter who raises them, isn't wise in my opinion. Safety should never wait for an "I told you so" moment.

Office of Rail and Road, a respected rail engineer, and now a passenger watchdog, have all raised concerns over public safety at Euston.

I hope you're not on the wrong side of history, ChrisB.

The answer was in my post....

funny that the crowding has got no worse since the pandemic, but this is the first time since then that they choose to put out a press release. Funny that.

There are valid ways agreed for safety issues to be brought up within the rail business, and going to the press is not one of them. Gareth has learned a lesson & wasn't whistleblowing according to legal opinion obtained by his union.

The ORR» (Office of Rail and Road, formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about) had marked their concern as 'satisfied' last Christmas - a fact that Gareth failed to mention in his interview.

Belated, equivocated and half hearted, an apology from Hendy......

Well, there's a thing - Euston "no longer in fit condition" says Hendy.

Will there be a call for sackings?

Bits of marble falling off columns is not unsafe?

Yes: sorry, ChrisB, but potentially chunks of masonry falling off the walls of the station onto the heads of people below is not unsafe?  Roll Eyes

CfN.  Shocked

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament, or Mile Post - a method of measuring the railway in miles and chains from a starting point - usually London, depending on context) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: Stop, Look, Listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

I can think of no reason why this wretched man should be allowed to keep a Government post. The fact that said post is within the Transport portfolio merely drops his credibility even further, if that is possible.

We all get to set our own standards.

I guess Starmer may have Oscar Wilde in mind.... to lose one Transport Minister to a criminal conviction may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness.
