Most memorable use of Kemble station ....

Kemble is a really interesting case of a station quite outsized for the limited population in walking distance.

Given the 5 mile separation, even though Cirencester's tiny (~20,000), a Cirencester to Kemble station good quality 4 metre width off road route is a no-brainer - reusing the branch would involve getting creative at the Cirencester end of things, given the encroachment of industrial estates and a couple of not-so-minor road flat crossings.

On the plus side, the missing A429 bridge site is ideal for a replacement at height, and a couple of other of the line's structures are strikingly well built, are early examples of GWR (Great Western Railway) masonry work and also deserving of listing.

A Cirencester-Kemble route is the sort of thing that should be funded by a levy of what would be small change from the extensive gravel extraction that's within a stone's throw there and which has utterly changed the landscape beyond recognition.

Also... *glares at Tetbury*... population ~6500 and growing, and c.8 miles from Kemble.
