How about if any franchise operated by or in partnership with any foreign-owned or foreign nationalised railway operator would not be allowed to charge a higher fare per kilometre than they do on their home turf?

Why, when we allow their UK^▸ staff higher pay rises, and thus they incur higher costs

I would expect there are areas that our TOCs^▸ operate abroad where track access charges are yet to arrive.

And, in my opinion, foolishness. What difference does it make whether excess profits go to a private company that may or may not pay much tax, or to a company owned by a foreign government?
