(Edit: removed the link to realtimetrains timetable for yesterday at Gloucester as, when posted, something strange was happening to it.)

Yes, aware of that one.  It relates to expanded abbreviations and URLs that include acronyms within them.  Significant coding job to correct the issue and with all sorts of likely side effects - adding complexity would add special cases.

Best solution is to mention the abbreviation in the text above the URL.   Outside a URL, it is possible for the poster to suppress expansion by adding another tag pair within it - for example an italic start and end tag.

If you quote a web address that has an abbreviation hidden in it, it can go wrong.   For example

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:MKM/to/gb-nr:SWI/2024-05-12/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

won't work because of the "SWI" and "MKM" in there, both of which will usually expand.

If you mention MKM» (Melksham (Station code) - next trains) and SWI» (Swindon - next trains) earlier in the message, though, it will work:

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:MKM/to/gb-nr:SWI/2024-05-12/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

and if you wish to use the abbreviations within text and not have them expand - as I did at the start of this message - you can add something like [ I ][/ I ] in the middle of the abbreviation - won't be seen, but will mean that the letters of the abbreviation are no longer up against each other in the raw message.
